Just a stone's throw from the heart of the city, nestled conveniently off the highway, Boston Logan International Airport awaits your arrival or departure. Its prime location is a boon for those who find themselves in the bustling downtown area, especially for late-night travelers whose journeys begin after the clock strikes twelve. If you're venturing by car, the drive from your downtown haven to the airport is a breeze, albeit with a bit of traffic to keep things interesting.
Embarking on your journey to the airport is straightforward. If you're approaching from the south or north, your path leads you along Interstate 95 to the welcoming arms of Route 1 South. Keep an eye out for the airport signs that will guide you on your way. For those in the heart of Boston, Route 1A eastbound is your gateway, merging seamlessly onto Interstate 90 southbound. Signs will beckon you towards the airport, where a dedicated exit unfurls, leading you to the terminals. In a mere 10 minutes, the cityscape gives way to the airport's embrace. For those who prefer to leave the driving to others, the airport's complimentary shuttle service is a gem, linking each terminal with the subway and the Water Transportation Terminal. These shuttles, as punctual as the tides, arrive every five or six minutes.
Logan International Airport is a tapestry of history and modernity, with four main terminals each telling their own story. Terminal C, the venerable elder of the group, opened its doors in 1967, setting the stage for decades of travel tales. Not to be outdone, Terminal B made its debut in 1974, and has since undergone transformative renovations in 2012 and 2014, ensuring its place in the modern age. Terminal A, the 2005 newcomer, stands proudly with its contemporary amenities. And then there's Terminal E, the globe-trotter's gateway, which has seen its share of enhancements and expansions through to 2017, offering a world-class experience for international travelers.
